Hi, I'm Danielle Valiente with Atmosphere Salon and our question is should curly hair be cut with a razor. Well, it's ideal that curly hair is cut with shears or scissors, but it doesn't mean that it can't be cut with a razor also. A razor can be very great with curly hair but there's some really important tips that you want to take into consideration. The blades on the razor have to be fresh, brand new blades every time and the reason why is because if the braid is fresh as you cut the hair with the razor, you're going to get a nice sharp cut line just like you would if you used shears or scissors. If the blade is dull or used, what happens is as that razor is being stroked down the hair shaft, especially with curly hair but it could also happen with non-curly hair as well, that blade if it's dull at all or it's used at all, it can actually rough up the cuticle of the hair so you're going to get almost like a frizzier effect to the hair, so really making sure that that blade every single time you use it on curly hair and I personally even do that on straight hair as well, a brand new blade every time sets you up for success every time you cut.
